Clear assessment. Targeted treatment. No guesswork.

Jaw pain and dizziness are two common conditions we see in clinic. While they can occasionally coexist, they are assessed and treated as separate clinical problems, each with its own causes, examination process, and treatment approach.

At Head2Toe, our focus is on accurate diagnosis, appropriate treatment, and practical management plans tailored to your presentation.

Jaw Pain Physiotherapy (TMJ)

Assessment and treatment of jaw-related pain and dysfunction

Jaw pain (often referred to as TMJ dysfunction) can affect eating, speaking, sleeping, and concentration. Symptoms may fluctuate and are often worsened by stress, prolonged postures, or overuse.

Common jaw-related symptoms

  • Jaw pain or ache around the ear or cheek
  • Clicking, clunking, or locking of the jaw
  • Pain with chewing, yawning, or talking
  • Jaw stiffness or reduced opening
  • Headaches linked to jaw or temple tension
  • Facial or ear-region discomfort with normal ear exams

Common contributors

  • Jaw joint irritation or overload
  • Muscle tension or imbalance
  • Clenching or grinding (bruxism)
  • Prolonged desk or forward head posture
  • Stress-related muscle guarding

  • Lightheadedness or unsteadiness
  • Feeling off-balance when walking
  • Dizziness with head or position changes
  • Motion sensitivity
  • Nausea associated with movement

Common conditions we assess

  • Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV)
  • Vestibular hypofunction
  • Cervicogenic (neck-related) dizziness
  • Balance and stability impairments
  • Post-viral or persistent dizziness
