Independence is made of specific tasks. Getting off the toilet. Carrying shopping from the car. Showering without help. Getting up off the floor. Each one is a strength and balance problem, which means each one can be trained.

How we work out the goals

We start from the tasks you have stopped doing, or that someone now does for you. Those become the program. It is a more useful starting point than a generic strength plan, and progress is obvious because you either do the task or you do not.

Common goals people bring

  • Getting on and off the floor without help
  • Showering and dressing independently
  • Carrying groceries and getting them inside
  • Managing steps at the front door
  • Getting in and out of a car
  • Being able to get up after a fall

Working with carers and support teams

Jordan works alongside families, carers, support coordinators and occupational therapists, and will write the program so whoever is supporting you knows exactly what to help with and what to leave you to do. Home visits are often the better choice here, because the task and the environment go together.

Book the 45 minute initial assessment online, or call the clinic on 03 9326 0168 and reception will work out the right appointment and funding pathway with you. See pricing and funding for fees, NDIS, Medicare and DVA details.
